Luis Pérez Bordoy’s documentary unravels the story of the Jews who were expelled from the Spanish islands of Majorca and Ibiza during the Second World War. Centering on Leo Frischer, a German Jewish refugee and photographer, the film recounts the life German Jews experienced in Germany and then in Majorca as exiles. Frischer’s personal story is told within the larger history of Franco and Hitler’s loose alliance that resulted in Jews being banished from the Balearic Islands, unveiling a story that even most local residents of the islands did not know.
