We're deeply honored to announce that the milestone 10th edition of the Screening the Holocaust Series will open with a special presentation of The Last Ones of Auschwitz on Thursday, October 30 at 7pm at O Cinema South Beach. This powerful documentary, which had its World Premiere at MJFF 2025, features the final on-screen testimony of David Schaecter—beloved founder of the Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach, and a longtime supporter and friend of our Miami Jewish Film Festival. The evening will be further enriched by the presence of acclaimed director Leslie Benitah, who will join us for an extended conversation following the screening.
Filmed over the course of seven years, The Last Ones of Auschwitz brings together more than 200 survivor testimonies from across the globe, including over 30 from Auschwitz survivors. What emerges is not only a profound historical record but also a deeply moving tribute to the resilience and courage of the last living witnesses of the Holocaust. By preserving these voices, the film ensures that their stories will continue to educate, inspire, and remind future generations of the importance of memory.
As with all events in the Screening the Holocaust Series, this program is free and open to the public, though advance registration is required and seating is limited. Presented in collaboration with the Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach, the Holocaust Teacher’s Institute, and the University of Miami’s Sue and Leonard Miller Center for Contemporary Judaic Studies, this special evening invites us all to reflect, remember, and honor.
