Field of Our Dreams is an inspiring coming-of-age documentary that chronicles the journey of four teenage girls as they travel from Amsterdam to Israel with their soccer team to participate in the Jewish Olympics, known as the Maccabiah Games. Throughout this tournament, Zora, Esra, Jade, and Jazzy undergo profound self-discovery, both on and off the soccer field. Over two demanding weeks away from home, amidst sweltering heat, they confront the pressures of a top-tier sporting event while also navigating the defining challenges of adolescence. Set against the backdrop of soccer, the film captures the personal growth and experiences of these four remarkable girls. Through intimately filmed cinematography, their genuine emotions and heartfelt conversations are revealed, offering viewers a captivating glimpse into the world of teenage girls. Field of Our Dreams is a heartwarming tale that explores themes of togetherness, faith, heritage, gender, friendship, self-development, and mutual learning, as we witness the transformation of these girls into a united team.

Directed by Yaël van der Schelde

Yaël van der Schelde is an Amsterdam-based documentary director and researcher. She holds a BA in Film Studies and a Master’s in Cultural and Social Anthropology. Apart from working in film, she is studying to become a psychosocial therapist. Field of Our Dreams is Yaël’s documentary feature film debut.
