My Neighbor Adolf

East Coast Premiere

In the crowd-pleasing comedy My Neighbor Adolf, a Polish Holocaust survivor living in South America suspects that the belligerent German who has just moved in next door must be none other than der Führer himself. How could this be? To prove his theory, he must trick his suspicious new neighbor, who calls himself “Herman Herzog,” into revealing his secret past. But in order to gather evidence, he will need to get even closer to his neighbor than he would like. So close that the two could almost become friends. Set in 1960 (the year Israel captured Adolf Eichmann in Argentina), this deeply amusing new tale from Israeli director Leon Prudovsky (13 years after his acclaimed film Five Hours from Paris was first presented at the Miami Jewish Film Festival) premiered at the Piazza Grande of Locarno and pits veteran British actor David Hayman and legendary German character actor Udo Kier against one another in this sly, “Sleuth”-style two-hander that will leave audiences at once gripping the edge of their seats in suspense and letting go with laughter.
